360iDev Conference - San Jose April 11-14

I'm excited to announce that I'll be speaking at the 360iDev Conference in San Jose, April 11-14. I will be delivering a hands-on topic called "Intro to Quartz 2D".

I attended the 360iDev conference in Denver last September - and it was fantastic! This is the only iPhone specific conference I'm aware of that's really for developers, by developers. For me, the conference started with an excellent two-day course on OpenGL, presented by Mobile Orchard and delivered by Noel Llopis, author of Flower Garden. In the next three days there were topics covering everything from app marketing to detailed technical sessions on all the latest SDK topics. This year, the conference will be perfectly timed to discuss the release of Apple's new iPad and all the related changes associated with it. If you're an iPhone developer or interested in the iPhone OS world - you'd be hard pressed to find a better bargain in this space.

My "Intro to Quartz 2D" session will cover:

- Hello World: How to set up your app to do basic Quartz 2D operations.
- Drawing: How to use the Quartz drawing tools - including setting colors, drawing lines, arcs, curves, ellipses, and rectangles
- Image Manipulation: How to resize an image, cut out part of an image, use image masks, and compose images
- Tranformations: How to scale, translate, and rotate your images and drawings
